From the ED's Desk - Community Support & Gratitude in Action

Back to all news

Every year at this time, I am reminded that the holiday season is approaching by a call from Kay Garrigan at East Congregational Church in Concord, NH. She reaches out to ask how many residents are currently living in our NH licensed Community Residence so the church can prepare a gift bag for each individual. This week, she coordinated with the residence manager to arrange a time for the delivery of these thoughtful gifts.

While Fellowship Housing Opportunities uses funds from Giving Tuesday to purchase gifts for all residents living in our supportive community housing, the gift bags provided by East Congregational Church are always a special treat. Filled with items such as socks, gloves, hats, gift cards, and personal hygiene products, these bags bring both comfort and joy to the residents. This week, residents also decorated their tree and hung their stockings, embracing the warmth of a place to call home during this season of hope, peace, love, and joy.

As we reflect on the year, the holiday season reminds us of the power of community, generosity, and compassion. It is a time to come together, share gratitude, and extend kindness to those around us. The support we receive from churches, donors, and community partners makes it possible for our residents to experience stability, dignity, and belonging—not only during the holidays, but throughout the year.

We extend our sincere thanks to Kay, Pastor Mike, and everyone at East Congregational Church, as well as to all who support Fellowship Housing Opportunities and our mission. Your generosity helps us continue providing safe, supportive housing and services to those who need it most. If you are looking for a meaningful way to give back this season, we invite you to consider supporting Fellowship Housing Opportunities and helping us make a lasting difference in the lives of our residents.

FHO wishes you and your loved ones a peaceful holiday season and a healthy New Year.
