From the ED's Desk - 2025 Pinnacle Awards

On June 4, 2025, Fellowship Housing was honored by the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce at their Pinnacle Award Luncheon receiving the award for the 2025 Non-Profit of the Year. Ben Dion and I accepted the award on behalf of FHO, Inc. I wanted to share this message of appreciation I delivered to the Chamber members at this award ceremony.

Over forty years ago I began my career in the nonprofit sector although I like to say that only the last five years count. I don’t really count the years with Blue Cross Blue Shield of NH or LRGHealthcare or Wellsense. Don’t get me wrong, they are nonprofit organizations on paper but in practice operate much differently than a small community-based nonprofit like Fellowship Housing.

Fellowship Housing provides community based supportive housing for individuals living with mental health. From the moment I accepted the role of Executive Director in 2020 I was impressed with the talent of the staff, the commitment to the  community and the dedication to the mission of the organization. We have been providing housing in Concord since 1966 and we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Page Cannon, our first Executive Director.

These are trying times for nonprofits, never mind those that are in both the mental health business and the housing business. Every day brings new challenges both at the Federal and State level with respect to the provision of Medicaid services, cuts to mental health services and HUD financing. Your active participation, advocacy and voice are necessary to make changes.

Our thanks to the committee for selecting us to receive this award. To our Board of Directors for their unwavering support. Most of all to the staff who share our passion for the work we do every day to make us New Hampshire’s companion in affordable housing and mental health services.
