Subsidized Housing for People with Independent Living Skills

FELLOWSHIP APARTMENTS, WASHINGTON COURT,
FAYETTE STREET PROJECT
(Click on a name to see a photo of the building)

Fellowship Housing manages three multi-unit buildings which provide facility-based Section 8 subsidies in individual and shared units. The buildings are located in neighborhoods and are convenient to shopping, services and transportation. As funding for these projects has been granted under HUD’s Section 811 program, applicants are limited to adults with mental illness who have very low-incomes.

Fellowship Housing staff are engaged with tenants in various landlord/tenant functions such as income verification, rental payments, lease agreements, maintenance requests. As needed, tenants may be eligible to receive Outreach Services from Fellowship Housing staff to assist with maintaining their skills for living in the community and managing their illness.

Tenants of the Section 811 projects:

  • are responsible for paying rent and security deposit, and for connections for telephone and cable TV.

  • are required to sign a lease agreement and are expected to be able to adhere to its terms.

  • must be able to keep their unit in a decent, sanitary condition

  • are expected to notify Fellowship Housing in the event of a maintenance concern.

  • are welcome to stay in their units or apply for transfers to other units as long as they are meeting the conditions of their lease agreement and remain otherwise eligible for the Section 811 project

Fellowship Apartments opened in March 1993 and is a six-unit building with two one-bedroom, two two-bedroom and two three-bedroom units.

Washington Court opened in September 1998 and is a six-unit building with two efficiency apartments, two one-bedroom apartments and one three-bedroom unit.
