INTRODUCTION:

Fellowship Housing offers a continuum of housing choices and support based upon the individual's needs.  Our housing offers a foundation upon which the individual can achieve and maintain a level of recovery from psychiatric symptoms in order to live in the community as a citizen, neighbor, friend, worker, etc.

We pride ourselves on knowing and caring for each of our renters.  This allows us to proactively deal with issues as they arise, oftentimes averting drastic measures such as eviction proceedings or hospitalization.  Responsiveness and flexibility are two key ingredients in our programs and we have a deep respect for the dual role of landlord and provider.

ELIGIBILITY:
Fellowship Housing programs generally serve adults with very low-incomes (as defined by HUD) who have severe and persistent mental illness (as determined by the NH Bureau of Behavioral Health).  Referrals usually come through case managers at Riverbend Community Mental Health or the NH Hospital.  People interested in residing in Fellowship Housing facilities must complete an application and must allow us to screen for income and personal background to insure that public funding is applied correctly.

As all Fellowship Housing programs operate within the community, residents and tenants are expected to be capable of managing the symptoms of their mental illness so as not to pose harm to themselves or others. Because Fellowship Housing’s facilities and programs are not medical facilities, people with specific health issues need to be able to access care for themselves.

FEES:
Rents and program fees vary by the facility.  The group home, Fellowship House,  charges each resident a monthly fee for room, board and services.  Additional program support is received under a contract with the local mental health center which bills Medicaid. Most candidates for Fellowship House are enrolled in the Medicaid program.

The HUD Section 811 supportive apartment projects, Fellowship Apartments, Washington Court and Fayette Street Project, charge rent which is based upon 30% of one’s income.  The renter provides their own food and household supplies, and pays for telephone and cable TV, as needed.  Fellowship Housing supplies heat, water and electricity and maintains the buildings.

The rents at the Pleasant Street, South State Street, Spruce Street and Jackson Street projects are adjusted as needed.  Fellowship Housing accepts Section 8 housing vouchers where applicable.  Tenants in these projects also provide for their own food and household supplies.  Utilities are either a part of the rent or paid separately by the tenant.  Once an application is approved, specific details of each site can be discussed.
